A necessary key to success in licensing or litigation is the gathering of accurate and clear technical evidence supporting your side. While you can easily find someone with the ability to tear down a product and report on the technology inside, it takes a more specific skill set to understand both the patent and the technology, and to demonstrate use of the patented technology in such a way that it is beyond doubt.
This is where we come in. We use a wide range of tested methods for discovering patented technology in consumer products. We take the time to fully grasp the patent or standard in question, which lets us save time and money on the investigation by finding an efficient way to achieve the desired result. We are also able to suggest ways to use the information for other campaigns.
Rather than simply diving in to an investigation, we read and fully understand the patent or standard to which the investigation applies. We may be able to determine use by simple analysis of existing documents or photographic evidence. Reverse engineering is not the only solution, and we have spent the last two decades finding faster and less costly means of delivering the information you need.
We supply the results of our investigation in a custom format built to meet your needs. From simple briefings to full color-coded claim charts, a TAEUS report is one that you can present with confidence.
Reverse Engineering
Reverse engineering has become a common and necessary aspect of assertive licensing, patent litigation, and competitive intelligence. In both licensing and litigation, comprehensive and compelling engineering evidence greatly increases the chances of success. Central to any reverse engineering effort is quality evidence.
Reverse engineering at TAEUS is unique. Rather than providing a top-down analysis of the target product, we research and analyze the project from a goal-oriented standpoint. We read and fully understand the patent or standard of interest to you before we begin any reverse engineering. This crucial understanding allows us to determine the easiest and most cost-effective method of proving use within the product. We then determine the easiest and most convincing way to provide the information. The results of our investigation are presented to you in a customized format. From simple briefings to full color-coded claim charts, a TAEUS report is one that you can present with confidence.
Looking Beyond the Obvious
We offer our clients the added value of identifying other areas within a client’s product of interest. For example, while reverse engineering an integrated circuit to prove infringement, we identified two other patents in our client’s portfolio that applied to the same device. In the process of the integrated circuit investigation, we were able to perform deflection analysis and wrote software to determine how the memory device was recording data. We developed three claim charts on the three patents using three completely different technical skill sets.
From comprehensive technical analyses to focused claim charts, we provide reports designed to give you an accurate and understandable summary of our results in a format you can feel confident using in negotiations and litigation.
