TECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS


	TAEUS technical investigation services are bundled into a framework called 4-D Analysis. This proven process gives our clients fast, accurate and cost-effective infringement analyses. It provides the hard evidence our clients require.

	We start by carefully reading and understanding the patent, identifying its claims and examining the suspected product or device. At this time we may recommend additional targets to consider for infringement analysis.

	After considering all the alternatives, we propose a solution using the most effective process that will demonstrate infringement. Reverse engineering (RE) of an integrated circuit (IC) is often a solution, but not always the most inventive or cost-effective approach. Infringement can frequently be demonstrated, or ruled out, rather easily without comprehensive reverse engineering. For example, in some instances a competitor will propose an immediate and prolonged circuit extraction, when TAEUS could write special software to perform the analysis, saving the client time and money. Jim Adams, our CTO, has a favorite saying he picked up from his college calculus professor over 44 years ago: W5—this means “Which Was What We Wanted.” The point is that having a clear understanding of engineering principals and available resources allows us to efficiently deliver a solution (what we wanted).

	Engineering investigations are executed by a Program Manager (PM) who is an experienced engineer. The PM is the client’s single point of contact for the project. During a technical investigation, as new facts are discovered, and new questions arise, the client can expect the PM to address these questions directly.

	Our deliverable is designed to provide the hard evidence needed to prove patent infringement in an easy to read, understandable format. We deliver our reports on-time and in a format suited to our clients’ needs.
